I think I have to quit track...?

I went to the doctor last monday because my shin hurt terribly. I got an xray done and nothing showed up. Because of this, he sent me to get a bone scan. Turns out, I have 2 stress fractures in my left leg, shin splints in my right leg, and bilateral chondromalacia in my knees. Yup... I'm falling apart. The doctor said I have to stay off my stress fractures for at least 6 weeks. I don't want to quit track, but I don't think I have a choice. It's either that or go see the trainer every single day just to ice and sit there. I don't think that there's much point in doing that- I've been doing it since my leg first started hurting. I promised myself that I wouldn't quit track. Literally, I even made a contract for myself! hahah. But I think that the best thing for me to do is to quit and take the necessary time off. As soon as I can start running again, I will. What do you guys think? Should I quit? I'm only a freshman... Thanks!
