What causes high pitched bilateral tinnitus?

Both my ears have been ringing non stop constantly for the past month. At first it was bearable and I could hide it by turning on my room fan. Now its loud. I can't hide it anymore. I'm 19 a year old male. I have never been to loud rock concerts or listen to loud music. I'm scared that this will last forever as some people say. It's just came out of nowhere one day. I did have a virus about a month ago thY my Dr. Said it could've been viral meningitis but wasn't sure. Could it be that. I also have jaw pain and clicking and I suspect tmj but haven't talked to my Dr about it. It's so high pitched and loud. Is there any hope for me. It doesn't let me live or sleep. Please help
