Okay, We are stationed in Germany (husband is Army) and I had a baby at the end of March. I heard a "pop" in my ankle and am concerned it is my achilles.?

I was playing softball, running to 2nd and went to slide. When I did, I'm not entirely sure what my ankle did, but I heard a pop and am pretty sure the 2nd basement heard it as well. I didn't have significant pain, and was able to get up and stand on it right away. When I went to run again, that's when it hurt in the posterior aspect of my ankle. I can do bilateral heel raises, not single heel raises. I iced it once I got home, wrapped it up and started having pain on the lateral surface of my ankle. When I palpate along the achilles, I have no pain and everything seems to be attached. I did the calf squeeze test and my foot plantarflexed as it should. Moving into dorsiflexion when sitting is difficult and stiff posteriorly and causes pain laterally. When I stand on it, it seems stiff and painful in the posterior region of my ankle/lower calf. When I walk, I have a hard time pushing off. Could this just be a bad sprain? Or is is sounding like a partial achilles tendon rupture?

Shiva, the report states this. The first part states that you have a "mild" push back of the fluid material in the disc. In the area that is stated it means that this fluid has pushed the walls of the disc outward. This movement is called a protrusion. It is fairly common and doesn't in and of itself mean anything. The question is does it match up to your symptoms? The second part states a sequestrated disc material in the right paracentral location of L4-5. These numbers are locations for the discs. What it is stating is that material from the disc has leaked out, meaning that the disc wall has been broken, but the good news is that this material will eventually dry up and be absorbed. This material is located on the right side of the spine. I would suggest that if you are having symptoms you try this. Sit in a straight chair and place your hands on your stomach. Now twist your body as far to the left as possible noting the endpoint then do the same to the right. You are going to find that one direction rotated further so start in that direction. Twist as hard and far in that direction as possible for 30 seconds then rest for 15 seconds. Repeat this twice more then do the same 3 movements to the opposite direction. Now straighten out your left leg and raise it up as high as you can noting the height achieved. Relax the leg and do the same with the right. Again one leg will go up higher so start with that leg. Raise that leg up as high as you can and then lower it. Do this 10 times and rest for 1 minute. Repeat that cycle twice more then do the opposite leg exactly the same way 3 times. Do these movements a few times a day and the symptoms should clear. Hope this helps.

Wednesday, July 20, 2011 I think I have to quit track...? I went to the doctor last monday because my shin hurt terribly. I got an xray done and nothing showed up. Because of this, he sent me to get a bone scan. Turns out, I have 2 stress fractures in my left leg, shin splints in my right leg, and bilateral chondromalacia in my knees. Yup... I'm falling apart. The doctor said I have to stay off my stress fractures for at least 6 weeks. I don't want to quit track, but I don't think I have a choice. It's either that or go see the trainer every single day just to ice and sit there. I don't think that there's much point in doing that- I've been doing it since my leg first started hurting. I promised myself that I wouldn't quit track. Literally, I even made a contract for myself! hahah. But I think that the best thing for me to do is to quit and take the necessary time off. It's just came out of nowhere one day. I did have a virus about a month ago thY my Dr. Said it could've been viral meningitis but wasn't sure. Could it be that. The company requires a mandatory 50 hours work week. I took FMLA for a bilateral mastectomy w/ reconstruction and the med cert said 4-6 months for treatment initially before anything was known. My boss tried to terminate me during FMLA and it took the company 3 weeks to respond to my initial issue. When an investigation was done they only talked to my boss and not the employees that heard things while I was on FMLA. They told my boss not to call me, but he did anyway the next day. When I called to report the fact that I received a call the HR rep told me to give him a break. This was for a guy that called me yelling the i am not guaranteed anything and i am not on FMLA. The benefits manger then told me he called and got in a fight with HR about the FMLA approval. The same day of his arguement with the HR dept he showed up at my store and had a meeting that all the employees perceived as a meeting sataing thery were better off w/o me. The HRD was requesting me to work it out and I knew that I had to try. I spoke to my boss and he denied everything even things the benefits manager told me happened. The day I went back the HRD text me he was transferred and I had a new HRD that had all my information. I had 10 days of vacation I was told I could use when I got back immediately if I wanted, and they were well aware of the fact I had my third surgery 1 1/2 weeks after I returned. They allowed me to return to work just three days after my 3rd surgery w/o a note. i asked about an accomodation to my boss and he said I dod not have a disability because technically my cancer is gone. I turned down both chemo and tamoxifen until I could get an accomodation request approved. they state in the rule book they do accomodations, and my bos told me him and his supervisors were working on my behalf to get me an accomodation. I grew more and more depressed over eight weeks of constant scrutiny and questions from my boss. he belittled me telling me I need new dr. he asked if i wanted special favors. If an employee missed a day he told me they are following my example. I was told I had to wait to start DM training that I was approved for before I left until I proved myself again. Things got bad when my boss started making me stay home from work if I called having to go see the dr. all my pleas for help were ignored when I finally got ahold of the new HRD he told me not to call him again and he knows exactly who i am. I'm 14 and I'm learning how to save and budget. Because I'll admit I'm totally spoiled and my mom and grandparents buy me whatever I want. My big sister just finished her first year in college and she doesn't have a job or make any of her own money. My mom and grandparents just fill up her account every week. They bought her car, pay for her gas and everything. She's not independent at all. I don't wanna be like that. So I need all the detail. Are the fees high? And like how much does it cost to add money each time. I'm making about $100 a week starting tomorrow for doing a couple chores like the dish washer and stuff. So is it good for that? So I know what you're thinking... she must have shin splints. But I really don't think this is shin splints. So this started randomly over spring break. I was running through my neighborhood, just a slow jog, when all of a sudden my shin started KILLING. But I kept running thinking that I could push through because it must be shin splints. It hurt really bad when I got back but my knees hurt worse... I have knee problems that my doctor diagnosed as bilateral chondromalacia. Those kill all the time. But anyway, I went to the trainer after spring break was over to have him take care of my knees. I brought up my shin and he said that since it only hurt in one spot that he thinks that it was the muscle rubbing against the bone causing pain. But it hurts even when I'm just sitting down so I don't know. It isn't even really my shin... it's like if you put your foot on its side and move your fingers upward from the ankle bone, it's about 3 inches up on the bone. It comes in terrible waves of pain. Not only do I have to deal with the shin pain, but also my knees. Can someone pleaseeee tell me what's wrong with my shin? Third: How do you write artists/song titles? & if I'm including lyrics from the song, do I place them in their own margin and paragraph? & Fourth: talking about supplies, should I capitalize "first aid kit" Why do people capitalize 'he' when talking about God, but not anyone else? It's just a part of Christianity, like how some Muslims will say "peace be upon him" whenever they mention Muhammed. It's a way of denoting the importance of God. It sort of makes God a proper noun no matter how He is referred to. You might think it's dumb, but to devout Christians, I'm sure it makes a lot of sense. I just want to live my life without being around my siblings. I never had a normal childhood growing up because ive always took care of them. Now that im never home, my parents seem to get pissed at me because I dont want help with THEIR kids. I feel bad but I dont care anymore because when I do watch my siblings they never listen to me or they dont respect me. That's another reason why I dont want to be at home anymore.
