Why do people capitalize 'he' when talking about God, but not anyone else?

It's just a part of Christianity, like how some Muslims will say "peace be upon him" whenever they mention Muhammed. It's a way of denoting the importance of God. It sort of makes God a proper noun no matter how He is referred to. You might think it's dumb, but to devout Christians, I'm sure it makes a lot of sense.
